The EEA and Norway Grants bring together stakeholders in impoverished border regions in Central Europe for joint projects to spur economic growth and sustainable social development. An important component in these projects is to establish institutional and personal networks involving partners from neighbouring countries bordering the European Economic Area.
The two sister cities of Chełm, Poland, and Kovel, Ukraine, are working together to promote economic growth and cross-border interaction in their border region, with a focus on developing ecologically sustainable tourism.
The Norway Grants have funded training for more than 400 representatives of municipalities, universities and NGOs in the Balkans and Ukraine in conflict reconciliation, democratisation and civil society development through cross-border cooperation.
Under the slogan "Step up for yourself!", Hungarian ex-soldiers participate in a a comprehensive job training programme to provide them with skills needed for reintegration into the civilian labour market.
